About your speaker:

Showing great promise as a self-coached young athlete (3:49 (1500), 4:04 (mile), 8:13 (3k), 14:23 (5k), unfortunately Lymes disease ended his athletics career in his early 20s. It was a natural progression for Norman to start coaching which he has now been doing continuously for 45+ years.

His athletes have achieved 42 medals at the UK National Senior Outdoor Champs during this time, mainly over the 800m and 1500m distances. They have also won 1 Gold and 3 Silvers at the Major Games.

Norman’s current training squad includes 7 athletes who broke 1:50 for 800m during 2022. He was the UK National Event Coach for 800m and 1500m during 1990-1997 and is currently the President of the British Milers Club.

Last year he released his first book: Progressive Training for the UK Middle-Distance Track Events, packed full of practical training programmes and principles.
