Are you striving for a “textbook” running style only to find yourself sidelined by recurring injuries? Or perhaps you’ve been told you “need” orthotics but aren’t sure why?
Join expert Podiatrist Colin Papworth for an in-depth exploration of running biomechanics that moves away from the search for a “perfect model” and toward a style that plays to your individual natural strengths.
In this session, Colin will break down his signature 6-point framework for running posture and gait whilst explaining how he uses orthotics as a tool to reduce “compensation movements” and when, conversely, the focus should remain entirely on retraining your natural movement patterns.
Key Takeaways:
- The 6 Principles of Posture: A deep dive into Posture, Arms, Pelvis, Push, Swing, and Contact.
- The Orthotics Logic: Identifying the specific biomechanical “red flags” where orthotics help, and understanding when they aren’t the answer
- Interrupting the Injury Cycle: How to identify the “interruption points” in your gait where problems begin and how to introduce new movement patterns.
- The Foot Pressure Map: How professional gait analysis (using foot pressure mapping) reveals torsions and quadrant weights that dictate your best path forward.
Who is this for?
– Runners who are curious about whether orthotics are a “quick fix” or a necessary tool for their specific gait.
– Coaches and Therapists interested in how orthotics can be used to facilitate better movement rather than just “bracing” the foot.
– Athletes looking to understand the “why” behind their recurring injury patterns.
