Directions to Woodside Stadium Watford
By Road:
M25 – from west, leave at Junction 19; more or less straight over at
roundabout onto A41 (direction: London and St Albans). Left at next junction (about
half mile) to follow A405 towards St Albans for 1½ miles; Turn Left at traffic light
(pub – a Harvester – on far left corner) into Horseshoe Lane. Woodside Stadium is on
left after less than ½ mile.
M25 – from east, off at Junction 21A, Turn Left onto A405. After 1½ miles Turn
Right at traffic light into Horseshoe Lane, with pub/restaurant on your right at the
junction.
From North, leave M1 at Junction 6. Turn Left (almost doing full circle) onto A405
bound for Watford. After less than a mile TR into Horseshoe Lane as for M25 from
east.
By Rail:
Garston Station is nearest to stadium. It is two stops (5 minutes) from
Watford Junction on branch line from there to St Albans Abbey. Get a ticket through
to Garston. For a long journey it should cost the same as to Watford Junction.
Regular trains from London Euston to Watford Junction (every 10 to 20 minutes),
journey time 15 to 20 minutes – destination usually Birmingham or Wolverhampton,
possibly also Milton Keynes and Northampton (avoid the slow trains – they take 40
minutes; and avoid the trains to Watford High Street – different station).
Trains from Watford Junction to Garston are only every 45 minutes (09:46, 11:31,
11:16, 12:01 etc – as mentioned above, journey just 5 minutes). On foot, leave the
station down sloping path to road, then turn left under bridge and walk 400 yards to
traffic lights, turn right and soon reach junction mentioned in road instructions –
straight over at lights to continue to stadium. If you are stuck between trains at
Watford Junction and pressed for time, take a taxi.
