We are looking forward to welcoming you to an exciting meet on the Sir Mo Farah Athletics Track, as part of a series of sport events to celebrate St Mary’s 175th anniversary year.
Athlete Registration on the Day of the Meet
When athletes arrive at St Mary’s they will be able to register and collect their race number in the Dolce Vita (Ji) which is located alongside the track.
Warmup and Competition Rules
A warmup area will be available next to the Sir Mo Farah Athletics Track. Athletes can also warmup offsite using the roads that are adjacent to St Mary’s.
Athletes will be permitted onto the track at least 30 minutes prior to their race start, please listen to the officials and volunteers to maintain safety around other races.
For safety, athletes are not permitted to wear headphones within the competition area.
Athletes will abide by all UKA rules of competition. This includes having footwear that is compliant for track races as per current World Athletics rules. Athletes who do not have compliant footwear will not be permitted to compete.
General Guidance
St Mary’s University is located at Waldegrave Road, Strawberry Hill, Twickenham, TW1 4SX.
There is no seating available alongside the track, but some seating will be available in the Dolce Vita (Ji) and The 1850 (J). Refreshments can be purchased here.
Please note, that dogs are not allowed onsite.
Visiting by Car
Enter the campus is via the white gates, which are located on Waldegrave Road, almost opposite Strawberry Hill Road.
The campus map shows the location of the track next to block J – registration on the day will be in block J. Limited parking will be available onsite located on the training pitch next to the Sports Hall (Ri), and in front of the De Marillac Halls (V, Za and X).
Reserved parking will be available for officials only, this is located on the road that runs alongside the Sports Hall (Ri) and the car park located in front of Clive Hall (S). A one-way system will be in operation – all cars to enter via the white gates on Waldegrave Road and to leave via the Clive Road exit. The Clive Road exit is found near to the Clive Halls (S & T).
Overflow parking will also be available at 60 Waldegrave Road and the Naylor Building. These car parks are opposite each other on the Waldegrave Road towards Teddington High Street, they are a two-minute drive and a ten-minute walk away. Staff and volunteers will be available on campus to help with athlete registration and parking. There will be no charge to park in the St Mary’s car parks that are being used for the athletics meet. Apart from the reserved parking, other spaces will be available on a first come, first served basis. Limited on-street parking is available in the local area and parking restrictions and charges may apply.
Visiting by Train
From Central London – travel directly to Strawberry Hill station from Waterloo station using the Kingston loop line operated by South Western Railway. The journey takes about half an hour and there are usually four trains every hour. These are listed with a destination of either Strawberry Hill or Teddington on the Waterloo departures board. You can use an Oyster card for this journey.
For train travel from other destinations, you can use the National Rail Enquiries or Transport for London websites to plan your journey.
St Mary’s is a five-minute walk from Strawberry Hill station. Turn left when you leave the station and take a right down Strawberry Hill Road. At the end of the road, you will see a pedestrian crossing and the white gates just to your right.
Visiting by Underground
Travel by the District Line to Richmond Underground station, and then take a taxi from the rank outside, take the train to Strawberry Hill or take one of two buses (see below) which stop near St Mary’s. See the Transport for London website for underground station and timetable information.
Visiting by Bus
From Richmond-upon-Thames, you can take the 33 or N33. The bus stop is a five-minute walk from Richmond Underground station on Sheen Road. This journey takes 15 minutes and the buses run every 14 minutes, and you can get off at the St Mary’s University stop which is just outside the St Mary’s main reception.
From Twickenham, there are regular buses from Heath Road Grove Avenue to St Mary’s. These buses run every five to ten minutes and include the 281, 290, 681, H22, 267, 490, and R70.
From Teddington, you can catch the 33 bus from Teddington Library to St Mary’s. The bust stop is located at the end of Waldegrave Road.
It is not possible to pay for London bus fares in cash. You can pay with an Oyster card, Travelcard or contactless payment.
