Entry Information

The BMC recommends that, where possible, athletes enter BMC races online at www.britishmilersclub.com/enteronline. Those without web access, or events where web entry is not offered, can usually also enter by ringing the organiser.

Anybody can apply to enter any BMC race except those restricted to specific age groups. However some of the more popular events have minimum entry standards and the following precedence guidelines will apply:

Fully paid up members inside the standard entering before the closing date
Fully paid up members outside the standard entering before the closing date
Non members or lapsed members entering before the closing date
Anybody entering after the closing date

Overseas non members at or near the Elite Standards are however encouraged to enter and will almost always be allowed to run. Fully paid-up members of the Irish Milers Club and Kiwi Milers Club will normally be treated as BMC members as long as they indicate their status when entering.

Where no standard is indicated there is no restriction on entry although athletes significantly slower than the BMC membership standard for their age group may be out of their depth.

The BMC cannot however guarantee entry to any event and in selecting the athletes for an event, the event organiser's decision will be final and binding.

All entries whether via the website or by phone officially close 7 days before the meeting or when the meeting is full. The race entry fee should be paid when collecting your vest number at the venue on the day of the race.

If you have entered a race that you are unable to run in, you must contact the organiser at the earliest opportunity. Those who persistently do not show up for races that they have entered without giving notice may face disciplinary action by the BMC committee as such a practice deprives fellow athletes of slots in the higher seeded races.

Event information including timetables for the Grand Prix and PB Classic meetings will be posted at www.britishmilersclub.com immediately prior to the meeting. Such information for the other races will generally only be available from the organiser.

BMC Races

BMC's premier meetings are the combined Nike Grand Prix and UKA Endurance Initiative meetings. The winning times of the "A" races are of true international standard. There are also a lengthy series of supporting races at least down to the senior standard for BMC membership.

The winning times of the A races in the Gold Standard meetings typically exceed the BMC's Gold Standard qualifying times. There are usually about 2 or 3 male races per event and 1 or 2 for women.

Regional Races are designed to provide high class competition at venues throughout the UK and these races are often won in times at or near the Gold Standard qualifying times. There are usually 1 or 2 male races per event and 1 for women.

BMC Academy PB Classic Meetings are the equivalent of the Grand Prix meetings for members and aspiring members of the BMC Academy and so are targetted at U20 and younger athletes.

BMC Membership

BMC Membership is limited to those athletes who have achieved the required qualifying times, and to qualified Coaches and Associate Members. British or overseas athletes / coaches are equally welcome to apply for membership.
