Update on the BMC Season
Our first fixture of the season at Trafford on July 25th has proved popular with over sixty entries for the 800m races.
We are pleased to confirm further fixtures at Lee Valley on 5th August and Trafford on 11th August. We hope to add more meetings and venues to this list.
We have been discussing with England Athletics format for these meetings and races. We are bound by the guidelines that EA provide.
EA will be seeking agreement that races can operate under the restriction of contacts being limited to 15 minutes. This will allow a more normal style of racing in 800m, 1500m, 3000m.
To make this work venues must be Covid secure with all appropriate cleaning, social distancing, and registration of attendance in place, races will be operated as bubbles maintaining social distance from competitors in other races. Numbers in each race will be limited.
The PROVISIONAL race formats will be:
• July 25th Trafford – 800m in lanes
• August 5th Lee Valley – 800m, at this point we can only guarantee an 800m with the full distance in lanes, if permission is given this will be switched to a break start, a 1500m will be added if approval for normal racing comes. Entries open Monday.
• August 11th Trafford – 800m, 1500m, 3000m assuming permission is given
• To be added additional dates and venues
License applications are pending UKA approval.
Races will be open to current BMC members
Thank you for your continued support we are working in this post lockdown period to try and deliver competition for our members. Whilst we would love to be doing more, organising any meeting in the current conditions is challenging. We appreciate the support shown when we announced the July 25th event.
