This event is part of the London 5k fest. As part of this there will be a men's BMC 5000m race and women can enter the mixed races
There will also be men and women's mile races as part of the series commemorating Sir Roger Bannister the first sub four-minute miler and founding president of the BMC
On the 6th May 1954 Sir Roger Bannister became the first man to run a mile in under four minutes. Sixty-four years on, almost to the day, can anyone match his time? History will meet innovation in this meeting on a night of 5000m races with music and much more.
The city mile has a long history being regularly run at Motspur Park in the 1960s and 70s. Many sub-4 times were set, but one to just miss out was 18 year old future world record holder Steve Ovett with 4 minutes exactly.
Back in June 1969 women were not regularly racing a mile. The BMC set about changing this staging a race in Leicester where Mia Gommers ran a World Record 4:36.8
A Pacemaker is needed for the men's mile able to do 2:02 to 800m, contact Tim Brennan by E-mail
