ORGANISER Steve Green says there is still time to enter the second British Milers’ Club 10k Track Festival at the Longford Park Stadium next Saturday (SEPTEMBER 5th).
Green has been pleased with the response s far and is hopeful that more entries will arrive in the next couple of days for an event that last year saw numerous personal bests.
“We have over 90 entries already and I am delighted with that considering we are so close to the Great North Run,” said Green.
“I am hoping that by the time entries close that on the day we will beat the 92 finishers we had last year.”
BMC chairman Tim Brennan says the evet will be a great way to mark the end of the closing weeks of the summer.
“The range of abilities and times shows we are joining forces with Highgate to enhance 10k track opportunities,” said Brennan.
The event also incorporates the North of England 10k track championships and that has helped attract a big contingent from Chorlton Runners.
“They train at the track and will bring support in numbers while we are also getting great support from the Highgate crew and that can only add to the atmosphere,” added Green.
Former British international and local legend Steve Kenyon is the guest of honour and the first of the five races will be at 1.30pm.
