Highlights of the meeting:-
Womens 800m - A fine win for Vicky Griffiths in a new BMC record (previously held by Jenny Meadows). Taking advantage of Jenny Meadows front running which saw the pack pass through 400m in 58-59, Griffiths made her move down the home straight to edge past Meadows in the final 20m to win in 2:00.49. Meadows was second in 2:00.70. Behind the leading pair Charlotte Best recorded her second fastest time ever with 2:02.16, while there was a two second PB for Alison Leonard in 4th (2:02.57)
Womens 1500m -Faye Fullerton was the class of the field and was away from the field from the off. A late run from Emma Pallent saw her take second place a close down slightly on Fullerton in the home straight, and move herself to the top of the UK U20 rankings.
Womens 5000m - Gemma Miles was pulled away from the chasing pack by the pacemaker having passed through 3K in 9:45. A pack of four chases was whittled down to two (Emily Pidgeon & Lauren Howarth) and in the final lap it was Howrath that started to close the gap on Miles, before Pidgeon kicked away in the final 100m, but Miles hung on for the win in 16:12.92 from Pidgeon (16:13.49) and Howarth (16:13.93)
Mens 800m - Graeme Oudney set the race up and at 600m he was 10m up on the pack. Around the final bend it Dmitrijs Jurkevics (Latvia) who emerged from the pack and , following his recent win at Loughborough, took the victory in 1:48.06 to Oudney's 1:48.61. Rick Ward (Norwich) was the leading U20 on the night and moved to the top of the U20 rankings with 1:49.47 while five of the top seven U20 ranking times came from the meeting - Niall Brooks (1:50.63 - and still only 16), Adam Moore (1:50.69), Michael Cole (1:50.81) and Sam Evens (1:51.74).
